Job description

Salary: NJC Grade E: £30,518 - £33,699 FTE (This will be paid pro-rata to reflect hours and weeks worked)

Please note that the pro-rata salary for this role is between £7,063 (E16) and £7,799 (E22) gross per annum (subject to change depending on agreed working pattern on appointment)

Working Pattern: This is a fixed term position working 10 hours per week, 39 weeks per year until 31st August 2027.

Normal working hours will be Friday 9:30am - 3:30pm and two afternoons 1:15pm-3:30pm, to be confirmed at interview.

Bolham Primary School are seeking a dedicated and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting teaching, learning and pupil development across the school.

The successful candidate will be able to teach whole classes across both KS1 and KS2. An interest in Physical Education and/or Outdoor learning would be desirable but not essential.

About the Role

Working under an agreed system of supervision, you will:

Plan, prepare and deliver learning activities to individuals, groups and whole classes Support teachers by helping create an engaging learning environment and preparing resources Monitor, assess and record pupils’ progress, providing detailed feedback and evidence Lead small‑group interventions and support delivery of literacy, numeracy and other curriculum strategies Contribute to out‑of‑school learning activities as required

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who can bring compassion and commitment to the role.

Essential qualities include:

Experience working with children across key stages Experience as a Teaching Assistant or Cover Supervisor delivering whole‑class activities English and Maths qualifications at Level 2 or equivalent Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills

Desirable (but not essential):

Previous HLTA experience Willingness to undertake relevant training First Aid qualification Awareness of health and safety practices
