Job description
The Governors at Norton Free C of E Primary school are seeking to appoint a full-time, Level 3 Teaching assistant with experience of working across Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 or with SEND. The post is to start in September 2026. We are seeking to appoint someone with an understanding of the needs of the whole child with an ability to build strong relationships with children, parents and members of the school team. We are seeking someone who has a great work ethic, experience of working as a TA in different settings, a good sense of humour and wants to make a difference to our children!
We are looking for someone who has
- A strong understanding of child development, learning and behaviour
- A nurturing, positive and encouraging presence in the classroom
- A calm, patient and empathetic approach to working with young children
- An ability to support emotional regulation and classroom engagement
- Confident delivering 1:1 support and small group interventions
- Practical experience and an understanding of supporting pupils with Autism, neurodiversity and additional needs
- Experience assisting teachers with lesson preparation and activities
- An understanding of the emotional needs and learning differences of children, enabling them to build both confidence and independence
- Excellent communication with staff, pupils and families
- Professionalism, reliability and a genuine desire to make an impact and a meaningful difference in the school environment
- Paediatric First Aid or a First Aid qualification.
The post is permanent subject to a 4 month successful probationary period. We are looking for someone who will fit right in with a calm and friendly disposition and a genuine passion for working with children.
