Job description

About this Role

At Oakridge School, our SEND children are at the heart of everything we do. We believe every child is extraordinary, and we go above and beyond to meet their individual needs. We are now looking for a passionate, child‑centred SENDCo to become their advocate and champion.

Our vision incorporates our philosophy on Inclusion ‘To enhance the life chances of all our pupils’

*This is a permanent, part‑time role (3 days per week) with flexibility around days and hours. We are seeking someone to start January 2027, or earlier if available. Not yet qualified? We will fully support you in gaining the National SENCO Award.

About the Role

As our SENDCo, you will lead and manage SEND provision across the school, ensuring every child receives a high‑quality education and thrives both socially and academically. You will:

  • Work closely with staff, parents and external professionals
  • Support and develop colleagues who are eager to learn and committed to inclusive practice
  • Play a key role in the Wider Leadership Team, shaping the strategic direction of the school
  • Collaborate with our experienced Assistant Head for Inclusion and our dedicated Inclusion Team, including our Pastoral Lead, Family & Welfare Officer and Attendance Officer

Our Inclusion Team has even been nominated for an Inclusion Award this year — a testament to the culture you’ll be joining.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate about giving SEND children the best life chances
  • Holds the National SENCO Award or is willing to undertake it with our support

If you are driven, compassionate and ready to make a meaningful difference, we would love to meet you.
