This is an excellent opportunity to join The Queen Katherine School at a pivotal time for its future.

We are looking for a very special teacher to work across the curriculum developing and supporting a small group of our children with autism, speech, language and Communication needs. Someone who can support both academic learning and social and emotional development, above and beyond what would be expected in a standard classroom. A person who believes in giving every child the opportunities and skills they need to thrive in their education.

You could have a primary, secondary, special school or AP background but you will definitely need to be resilient, determined and committed to developing the whole child.

You will collaborate with the Head of School, SENDCO, department leads and pastoral staff to deliver a programme that is extensively tailored to the children’s needs whilst covering the QKS curriculum. Time each and every day will be provided for opportunities that are creative, enriching and aid social development with input from internal and external groups. Children will access the main school for some of their timetable dependent on need and spend some time in our resource provision working on a bespoke curriculum.

In return you will get superb professional development, be part of a supportive team creating an exciting new provision all within a school where every child truly matters.

The successful candidate will:

  • Possess a relevant teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, Bed)
  • Be an excellent communicator
  • Ensure high standards of teaching across the curriculum and have a commitment to challenging learners to achieve well
  • Be a passionate, caring and inspirational leader and teacher
  • Be self-motivated and reliable
  • Be enthusiastic about current research on thinking skills and building learning power.

If you have the qualities we require, along with the passion and aspirations to contribute to the success of the School and the MAT, we urge you to hit the "Apply" button.

Cumbria Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Enhanced DBS disclosure and Barred List checks are required for this post. You should not apply if you are on the Children’s Barred List. In line with Keeping Children Safe in Education, online searches are carried out on successful candidates.
