Job description

We are seeking a skilled, compassionate and motivated Learning Support Assistant to join our new Primary Alternative Provision and Outreach Service supporting children across Bath & North East Somerset. The service provides specialist support for pupils experiencing social, emotional, mental health and inclusion needs through a combination of outreach support, in-reach alternative provision, day 6 provision and reintegration programmes.

Working across the provision you will support with delivery of learning activities, targeted interventions and pastoral support that help children overcome barriers to learning, develop emotional wellbeing and successfully engage in education.

The provision will be based at Beckford Drive, Lansdown, Bath, BA1 9AU in the school building which was previously Abbot Alphege Academy.

The Role

  • Deliver learning activities and interventions for individuals and small groups.
  • Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development. Use evidence-based approaches to promote engagement, resilience and positive behaviour.
  • Work directly within schools as part of the outreach offer.
  • Support pupils through personalised programmes and nurturing relationships.
  • Support with assessment, progress monitoring, transition and reintegration planning.
  • Work collaboratively with families, school staff and other professionals.

  • Has experience working with children with SEMH, SEND or additional needs.
  • Builds positive relationships and has strong communication skills.
  • Is flexible, resilient and able to work across a range of settings.
  • Has a commitment to inclusion and improving outcomes for vulnerable children.
