Job description

Teaching Assistant (Alternative Provision KS3 to KS4)

  • Position: Permanent
  • Hours: 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (Term time only)
  • Salary: From £19,104 per annum, depending on experience
  • Location: Bexhill on Sea
  • Professional Development: This role includes the opportunity to complete an apprenticeship degree appropriate to the position

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people? East Sussex Skills Academy is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support our students in overcoming barriers to learning and building their self-esteem. In this rewarding role based in Bexhill on Sea, you will work closely with Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 pupils who face social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties. You will guide them through small group work, one-to-one interventions, and positive behavioural strategies to help them achieve their full academic and personal potential.

What We Are Looking For

  • A good level of education to Level 2 or equivalent, including English and maths (or a willingness to achieve this)
  • Experience offering support, guidance, and information to diverse groups.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the unique issues affecting students.
  • Excellent front-line communication skills, empathy, patience, and a calm, courteous manner under pressure.
