Job description
PE Teaching Assistant
Contract: Permanent
Start Date: September 2026
Hours of Work: up to 37 hours per week (subject to agreement), to be worked between Monday & Tuesday 8am to 4.15pm, Wednesday & Thursday 8am to 4pm and Friday 8am to 3pm, 38 weeks per year (term time only).
Salary: Range 3 point 16-20 (Actual salary for 37 hrs/wk is £25,055pa to £26,876pa)

Are you passionate about sports, physical education, and inspiring the next generation? We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised, and proactive PE Teaching Assistant to join our Physical Education department.
In this varied and active role, you will work closely with our PE teaching staff to deliver high-quality physical education across our full secondary curriculum. From setting up equipment and coaching extra-curricular clubs to managing sports fixtures and providing lesson cover, you will play a vital role in encouraging healthy, active lifestyles among our students.
Key Responsibilities
Lesson & Cover Support: Assisting with PE lessons, preparing sports equipment, and stepping in to cover classes when PE teachers are absent.
Sports & Events Coordination: Organising school sports events (like Sports Day and House Sports), coaching lunchtime/after-school clubs, and managing logistics (bookings and transport) for fixtures.
Admin & Communication: Handling department paperwork, managing Duke of Edinburgh (DoE) student accounts, maintaining sports equipment/displays, and keeping parents updated via email, newsletters, and the website.
Student Welfare & Safety: Supporting student well-being, maintaining strict confidentiality, and taking responsibility for health and safety in sporting environments.

Possess strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage timetables, transport, and event logistics.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills when interacting with students, staff, and parents.
Be adaptable, resilient, and comfortable taking the lead in covering lessons or supervising groups.
